Scones

So the whole scone thing started on the cruise to Alaska. We have Angela, the tall, gorgeous blond with the British accent who had all the crewmen walking into the walls trying to get a glimpse of her on deck, and then there's Helen, the little old lady waddling behind her waving her camera at the photo guy who is fawning over Angela to remind him she's STILL waiting for the lens cleaner he promised her. So these are the two gals. They met in a book club after they had each moved to a new city, the book group just a ruse to find new friends. And did they ever. Three years later they have laughed together, cried together, shopped together, plotted building a better mouse trap together, traveled together, praised their daughters together and foremost, they have eaten great food together. While others may notice that one of the gals is old enough to be the other's mother--her own daughter is older than Angela, neither of the pair seem to be aware that a generation separates them in age, so close are they in humor, outlook, spirit, zest for life, hunger for fun and deep affection for each other. They are the other's greatest supporter, ally, confident, life coach, and partner in crime. Which brings us to the scones.
